Rock around the clock

Remember my promise to Jeremiah to return to the Clock Tower each month until he got to the top?  Well, last Sunday was the first 'next month'.

First platform
Climbing down from the second platform - those stairs are steep!

He only made it to the second platform, but that was farther than last month!  YAY!

Second level

It does mean we'll be going back next month though - so stay tuned for updates ;)

Yesterday was the Camperdown Show.  The girls' dance school was asked to participate.  The weather left a lot to be desired, but they had fun anyway.

Getting ready with the dance team:

Colourful, energetic, FUN!

Can you find Bethany and Abigail?  (Naomi opted out...)

A testament to the conditions:

After the performance, we didn't want to stay too long as Lydia wasn't 100%.  However, we did have a quick look through the handcrafts and decided we might try to contribute something next year.  After that we stayed just long enough for some hot jam donuts and a wildlife show.

Rock around the clock?  Well, not quite.  But it was a fun title!  ;)

The Dig - Week Three

Last week we studied through the third week of the The Dig for Kids.  (We are a week behind the Dig in Community.)  I just love the simplicity of this study.  If you don't have a lot of time, no problem!  Just open and study.  10-15 minutes and everyone can be off again.  Have more time to spend?  You can prepare more activities and / or dig even deeper.  We are loving it!

We don't have a set time for our study.  We pick it up whenever is best each day.  Often, this time falls after our evening meal while we are still around the table.  However, with the lovely weather starting to appear more often we have found ourselves outside a lot more.

Our memory verse for the week has been:

Do to others as you want them to do to you.
~Luke 6:31 (NIRV)

It has been a wonderful opportunity to help our children learn to treat each other better.  Although they get along well for the most part, they still have times (like all of us) when they need to make better choices.

We talked about how important it is to pray before you make important decisions.  We looked at how Jesus prayed All. Night. Long.  But this principle applies to more than just the major decisions of life.  We should have a life of prayer, including God in every moment of our lives.  If we fall and graze our knee, pray.  If we feel scared, pray.  If we are feeling upset, pray.  If we get to go to our favourite park to play, pray...and be thankful!

Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else. Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
~1 Thessalonians 5:15-18 (NIV)

After all God wants our heart.  All of our heart.  Every minute of the day.

I once heard it said, "If you don't feel like praying, talk to God about it".  :)

We talked about loving enemies.  This seems to be difficult for the children to understand.  As they are home educated, they have not really been exposed to bullying or very mean behaviour on the part of others.  How do you explain an enemy?  I have found it hard.

We have also been working on not judging each other.  A common phrase has been, "You may point out his/her faults when you are perfect".  Instead of pointing the finger at another, we must look at our own behaviour.  A good reminder for Mum too!

I am loving how The Dig for Kids is helping us become closer as a family and I thank the Lord for putting it in my path!
